Are We Bored Yet …

Posted on March 31st, 2010 | by Rohan |

OK, so I took a blatant paraphrase phrase from Ice Cube‘s venture into family comedy … when I use the word family, my thought is that I’m not quite ready to watch the Friday Trilogy with my Grandparents!

Having said that, what I really meant to ask was ‘Are You Bored Yet’? I know that I get bored of myself quite easily, and I would NOT want you to suffer the same fate by having to read my endless diatribe! Of the usual bloggers, Miss Payne is busy beavering away in her new job and as for Mr Sealy … the less said the better, although he may soon need a new keypad on his Blackberry!

With this in mind, I have enlisted the help of some friends to keep The Hamstring nice and fresh. Fortunately, the Red Knight and Davina have agreed to share some of their thoughts on Liverpool Football Club in particular. They have an open remit to write about the past, the present and the future. If their tweets are any indication, their posts will fuse knowledge, passion and humour, so I can’t wait!!

Many of you will know that I am a lifelong and very proud Koppite. This is very much a passion that I shared with my late fiancée, Danielle … let’s face it, how many couples have their first date on the Kop on a cold Premier League afternoon! (see here to see how that comically unfolded!) Certainly, in the few months since her passing, LFC has probably been one of those things that I have conveniently put to the back of my mind – not that I haven’t been dealing with the more difficult memories, but I’m not that silly as go out of my way to evoke them.

As a result, this blog has been sadly bereft of posts on the subject of Liverpool FC, bar the odd rant when we have suffered defeat, and I have decided to ask for the head of Rafa Benitez on a plate … Dani always said I engaged my gob before my brain! For what it’s worth, I am fully behind Rafa, even if I don’t always agree with his decisions. Any trouble at the club goes much deeper, and can firmly be attributed to the owners (see Twitter Feed #YanksOut for confirmation!), and in my opinion to David Moores, who placed the club in their hands.

Sunday’s visit to Birmingham City will be only my third match since Dani left us, the others being the away trips to Villa and Wolves. It’s fair to say that I’ve eaten more pies than I’ve seen goals, and that was just in the first 15 minutes at Molineux alone! I have not yet made it to Anfield, and to be honest really do not feel like facing this until next season. Of course, much of what I’d write about the Reds is opinion shared in Liverpool, so I confess to being bereft of ideas!

However, my passion has been reignited in recent weeks chatting with many Red Fans on Twitter … a great way to share thoughts with fellow supporters and fabulous in the build up and reaction to a game … if a self-made distraction during!! I am really thankful to the friends mentioned above for stepping into the breach and ensuring that one of my passions still has due coverage on my own blog.

Can’t wait to publish them – please feel especially welcome to share your comments and thoughts.
