Peaceful Tranquility
Posted on March 24th, 2010 | by Rohan |The first time Dani told me we were going to see The Edge, I truly hoped that we were going to see U2! This was not to be the case!
When she corrected me by saying that we would be going to Alderley Edge, I took the assumption that we were going on a posh night out to ‘hob-nob’ with the rich and famous. Guess what … this was not to be the case!
Where we spent a lovely Sunday Afternoon was quite literally on ‘The Edge‘ – an elevated ridge with a steep drop into the Cheshire Plains, a historical National Trust site at which it is difficult to believe that you are:-
- On the flight path to Manchester Airport
- A mere mile away from the village of Alderley Edge, home of WAGS and Thespians and selling more champagne per head than any area in the UK
- 12 Miles away from the UK’s third city, Manchester
It is idyllic and peaceful, with history and myths dating back to the days of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Dani was always very happy here, it was a haven to which she looked forward on a regular basis. It was with this in mind that her ashes were then scattered here in December, at a place both beautiful and tranquil, and where she was always at peace. Her ashes were scattered at the same spot as those of her mum, at the ironically named Stormy Point.
As written in Gone Too Soon, Never Forgotten, today would have been her 33rd birthday and provided an appropriate opportunity to visit this spot for the first time since December 15th. I found it a very peaceful day and a time for reflection, and actually managed to keep any tears at bay, although the same cannot be said of my companions! Although emotionally drained, it is another landmark passed, and another opportunity to be thankful for the special times, and to look forward to the new challenges ahead.
I wanted to take an opportunity to thank everyone who has sent messages today, whether by text, email, FB / Twitter, or for that matter carrier pigeon! All joking aside, I am so grateful and your support is the source of great comfort and strength to us all. I leave you simply with a picture below, taken today of Dani’s final resting place – Stormy Point, Alderley Edge.
