It’s Just Not Cricket … Actually, It Really Is!

Many of you will be aware of my love of a good book … quite frankly, I can happily waste away hours on end turning pages, the only downside of course being when I finally put the book down, look at the clock, and realise that I have to be in the office in about 5 hours time!!

My latest read was written by was written by stage actor and author, Michael Simkins. His 2007 publication, Fatty Batter, takes us through his life and his obsession with cricket and the often quite comical consequences. I could relate to this more than any book that I have encountered for some time! Moreover, it has given me a notion for a new regular series here on Random Musings.

Now if I wanted to read a profile of any cricketer, I would go to ESPN Cricinfo – the only online source which rivals The Wisden Almanack itself. However, I really wanted to find out the best experiences people have had watching their cricketing heroes. With this in mind, I shall publish a weekly short (ish) post about an occasion watching one of the stars of the leather and willow based pugilistic art!

I would also welcome contributions from any cricketing aficionados out there, budding authors or not, who would like to share some of their favourite cricketing moments.

The articles will simply be called ‘Beyond the Rope Watching …’.

I hope you will enjoy these musings and reminiscences, and of course respond with your own.
