A Helpful Hand for Haiti
Posted on January 13th, 2010 | by Rohan |I am often so very amazed how tragedy strikes those who least deserve it. Haiti is one of the world’s poorest nations, and ill equipped to deal with the events of the last 24 hours. Now earthquakes are tragic for the most developed of nations, but the scale of this disaster is impossible for most of us to comprehend.

From a personal perspective, many of you will know that I lost my fiancée Danielle merely 8 weeks ago. To me, that felt like the end of my world. However, whilst I lost a great deal emotionally, I have still had my family, friends, a roof over my head, and so many positives around me.

In Haiti, so many who have worked so hard for so long for so little, will wake up tomorrow with no home, no family, and no finances of which to speak. My heart goes out to all, and I hope that even in our troubled economic times, we can do all possible to aid the recovery of a land and its people. Below are a few links where you can make a donation, however small:-
Oxfam
Christian Aid
British Red Cross
World Vision
Unicef
Save the Children
Let us all hope that we can make a difference. I leave you with a link to a statement from one of the world’s most famous modern day Haitians, Wyclef – http://wyclefjean.wordpress.com/2010/01/13/statement-by-wyclef-jean-on-haiti-earthquake/.
