Bravo for Bravery

In my post, “The Special People of 2009“, I spoke of the inspiration given to me by my close friend Lorna Harris, who has battled Cancer with the absolute bravery, energy and vitality that she epitomises.
I have always had a great interest in the battle against Cancer, and this has been the case more than ever this year. Many of you will know that I lost my fiancée Danielle in November of last year, and that we had lost Dani’s beloved mum, Cathy, in May.
Neither Dani or Cathy actually perished to Cancer, but Marie Curie Cancer Care was a huge passion in both of their lives, mainly due to the care that they had given to Cathy’s late father. In fact, Cathy and Dani both ran the Great North Run on several occasions to raise additional funds for the organisation.

Today, I came across another inspirational figure, albeit through the unusual avenue of Social Media. However, Tweetdeck sent me in the direction of ‘Chemobabe‘, a mother and wife battling Cancer with humour and determination. You can follow her on Twitter or Facebook.
I made 2010 the year in which I truly allowed myself the time and opportunity to do something special for others. The very special people mentioned above make it so much easier.
