The ICC get it right again …

I have no issues with the fact that the West Indies this morning lost the 3rd Test Match against Australia. The West Indies have shown character, aggression, purpose and skill against a team that remains one of the better in world cricket, so I see many positives in the completed series.

However, I do have continued and grave concerns about our beautiful game beng governed by a clueless, incompetent, untrustworthy organisation in the ICC.

In this brief post, I ask simply about the use of technology and the referral system. How can a system be in place where 2 different decisions can be correct for the same piece of footage. Take for example the Jonathan Trott LBW appeal on Thursday in Pretoria … Hawkeye shows the ball clipping Leg Stump but because the on-field umpire says not out, the decision stands. However, had the umpire given it out, the same video review would have been given out. It is preposterous that the same footage can have 2 correct decisions!! Simple Concept to remember:-

If there is any doubt, benefit goes to the batsman

This way, the Video Umpire makes the correct decision based on what he sees. The wording of this rule has seen 2 West Indian batsmen given out caught behind at key points in the series when the technology of Hot-Spot on both occasions suggested no touch.

ICC, either get this system right or trust your ‘elite panel’ to make decisions on the field of play.

I agree with you mate, although with the Bollinger catch it was the Umpires who referred it as they were unsure. I just feel that the system doesn't work.

On the bright side, Liverpool could be playing Saints in the lower divisions soon!

I think the whole referral thing is a bit shabby mate ! Mind you, it saved your boys a wicket with the catch that never was. Lovely hitting from Benn !
